چکیده
SAE: serious adverse event INTRODUCTION Sialadenitis, inflammation of a salivary gland, typically presents with pain, swelling, and erythema of the oral mucosa. In particular, lymphocytic sialadenitis is most commonly associated with Sj€ ogren’s syndrome and hepatitis C viral infection but has never been described in the setting of interleukin (IL)-17 inhibition. We report a case of lymphocytic sialadenitis in the setting of ixekizumab treatment for psoriasis.

Interleukin 17-Mediated Host Defense against Candida albicans
Candida albicans is part of the normal microbiota in most healthy individuals. However, it can cause opportunistic infections if host defenses are breached, with symptoms ranging from superficial lesions to severe systemic disease. The study of rare congenital defects in patients with chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis led to the identification of interleukin-17 (IL-17) as a key factor in host d...
متن کاملThe Evolving View of IL-17-Mediated Immunity in Defense Against Mucocutaneous Candidiasis in Humans.
The discovery of interleukin (IL)-17-mediated immunity has provided a robust framework upon which our current understanding of the mechanism involved in host defense against mucocutaneous candidiasis (CMC) has been built. Studies have shed light on how pattern recognition receptors expressed by innate immune cells recognize various components of Candida cell wall. Inborn errors of immunity affe...
متن کاملProtective Effects of Interleukin-4 on Tissue Destruction and Morphological Changes of Bovine Nasal Chondrocytes in vitro
Background: Previous studies have shown that some cytokines have protective effects on cartilage in joint diseases. In the current study, effects of IL-4 against morphological changes and tissue degradation induced by IL-1α on bovine nasal cartilage (BNC) explants were investigated. Methods: Fresh BNC samples were prepared from a slaughterhouse under sterile conditions. BNC explants culture was...
متن کاملMucocutaneous candidiasis: the IL-17 pathway and implications for targeted immunotherapy
IL-17 and related cytokines are direct and indirect targets of selective immunosuppressive agents for the treatment of autoimmune diseases and other diseases of pathologic inflammation. Insights into the potential adverse effects of IL-17 blockade can be drawn from the experience of patients with deficiencies in the IL-17 pathway. A unifying theme of susceptibility to mucocutaneous candidiasis ...
متن کاملInterleukin-17-induced protein lipocalin 2 is dispensable for immunity to oral candidiasis.
Oropharyngeal candidiasis (OPC; thrush) is an opportunistic fungal infection caused by the commensal microbe Candida albicans. Immunity to OPC is strongly dependent on CD4+ T cells, particularly those of the Th17 subset. Interleukin-17 (IL-17) deficiency in mice or humans leads to chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis, but the specific downstream mechanisms of IL-17-mediated host defense remain unc...
